I took some time to work in pastels today (on the floor of my studio since my desk is still drying), and here's what came out.


It's based on this photo, which I took at a rest area on my way back from St. Paul in June (!) of last year.


I haven't worked with pastels much since high school. They seem like such a fast and loose medium, and I love scribbling with them. I used just a regular brown paper bag because we have a surplus, and I like the texture.


And, to make this a nicely random post, here is a picture of the sunset on Monday (because I can't seem to take enough pictures of sunsets in my backyard).
