Studio Redo: Day 6

Well, today I spent the day caring for a sick little boy, so I only had a little bit of time in the studio this evening. That said, things are coming along.

DAY 6
I think I'm in good shape. Tomorrow I'll move one bookcase up to The Boy's room, and clear out the remaining books and fabric. This will leave my desk, a bookcase and two file cabinets, which will stay in here (covered by plastic) while I do the demo and wall prep. I'll also vacuum, and then roll up, the rug.

Wednesday I'll need to see about making an exploratory cut into the ceiling. I think there's blown insulation in there, but it could just be empty. I hope it's mostly empty, and comes down without a fight. We'll see.

I also have to get all my prep and paint stuff. I need sandpaper and paint for the shelves, and plaster for repairing the cracks and holes. I've decided on a mellow, buttery yellow called "Heavy Cream" for the walls.

I'm trying to decide if I'll strip the woodwork (it all used to be a warm, reddish tone because it was coated in shellac), or paint it white (the easy choice). I'll get some pics so you can vote on that one.

More tomorrow!
