weather or not: my birthday saga

My birthday seems to bring the strangest weather.

On my 21st birthday I was supposed to go out drinking with my dad. The night and morning before, the skies opened up and dumped 2 feet of snow on us. Roads closed. No birthday drinks.

I've wised up since then. Now, I try to plan my birthday celebrations either for home or before the 30th.

Case in point: today is my birthday, and we are in the middle of an ice storm. We're supposed to get 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice then 2 to 5 inches of snow. My hubby went to work, and is not sure he'll make it home. No hubby. No cake.

Thankfully, we went out for my birthday last night. The Van Beest family (all 3 of us!) ate at the Black Cat. Alden had his first public feeding and changing. All went well, and I had a great time downing nachos and giggling about Billy and the Rump Rockers (a story I am not willing to share, but which led to me and AJ realizing we will soon have to edit our conversations in front of the kid).

AJ also treated me to a birthday waffle this morning, complete with candle. He even sang "Happy Birthday."

Then he asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday. I replied with a grin, "Change diapers and feed the baby."

I also have had the wonderful opportunity to use the nasal aspirator on my son's stuffy nose and clean the chicken coop as much as possible (frozen chicken poop being quite tenacious).

So, that has been my birthday thus far.

We'll see if my hubby makes it home tonight so we can watch a movie and eat ice cream. Until then, I am going to water the chickens (forgot to bring them a refill after the cleaning), work on finally cleaning my studio, and fill out the paperwork for a loan deferment. Maybe I'll get to add some resources to artcentric, too.

Either way, I'm 28 today! Hurray!
