tongue-tied & brain-twisted

Once again, pregnancy has robbed me of any brains I used to have (or at least pretended to have). I have trouble thinking linearly, and get easily distracted. This has made my tutoring job interesting (although, I think I pull it together fairly well for that). Mostly, though, it has meant that I intend to do one thing, and end up doing something completely different.

Last week, Alden and I met up with some friends we hadn't seen in a month. We went to the playground together for a few hours, and then headed our separate ways. I decided it would be good to stop at the store to "look at toys." Alden loves to just check things out. Thankfully, he hasn't figured out the beg-and-whine routine.

We headed to our neighborhood discount store with not much in mind other than looking. Alden loves those dancing, singing, light-up, stuffed Christmas whats-its, so we watched those for awhile. We also looked at the dog toys, 'cause they're fun, too. Then, after a brief eyeballing of Thomas & Friends, we headed out the door for some lunch and a nap.

Later that day, I recounted our morning to AJ. Here's how the conversation went:
AJ: So, you picked up some dog leads while you were there, right?
Me: *blink* *blink*
AJ: Remember? You were going to go to the store to pick up dog leads because Molly's
tie-out broke?
Me: Oh, yeah. That's why I went to the store. I mean, I knew I had to go to the store, but
once I got there I didn't remember that I had to go to the store or what I had to buy.
AJ: *rolls eyes*

Yeah. So, I've been making lots of lists. The only problem is, I've been making so many lists that I can't remember where I put the one I need right now.
