Studio Redo: Day 2

I see floor, people!

DAY 2

Speaking of floor, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Right now it is painted dark brown (with gouges that expose a lighter brown paint, and many random paint splotches along the edges). Maple flooring lurks underneath there, with a little bit of concrete in the southeast corner because that part used to be the little girls' room when this was a school.

I'm thinking of leaving the floor as is until we do the rest of the floors in the house in a couple of years. Perhaps just a good deep cleaning of both the floor and the rug (egads, look at that thing!) will do the trick in the interim. Suggestions, of course, are welcome.

It feels strange to be digging through the detritus in here. I've been carting around a lot of it for years, and a lot of it is now on its way to either the dump or a thrift store. It feels so good to be purging, and it'll be nice to have a fresh space to work in. Tomorrow I will have a cathartic burning of phone bills from 1997. Yes, I am that lame.

As for my timeline, I'm not sure if it is overly ambitious or not. I moved a lot of stuff today (not all of it went out), but it seems like little progress. I guess the good news is that I can see about a quarter of the floor. That means the room is three-quarters empty, right?!?

See you tomorrow.
