Dividing 24 hours

I've decided to get more organized in my writing pursuits. On Fridays, I will create a calendar of tasks for the upcoming week. This will include spec articles to write, trade journals to query, Pagewise articles to write, and time for creating and distributing publicity materials.

Although our company website is almost ready to go, we still have a few loose ends to tie up. So, these tasks will go on the calendar, too. I think we have some business things to attend to as well (including taxes and bookkeeping) so they'll have to find a spot.

In facing reality, I want writing to be a part-time job since I already have a full-time job as Mom. Alden has reached a point where he can entertain himself a little bit, so it shouldn't be too hard to fit in some writing daily. However, this also means I need to figure out how to incorporate household chores and gardening and art into the mix. I'm also considering going back to school for the 2006-2007 school year, so I'll need to get cracking on scholarships, grants and other related tasks.

I guess this leaves me with a full-plate, but at least I'll finally have a plan for managing it all.
