I can breathe again!
So, remember that bit about "lightening" I mentioned yesterday? It happened last night!
I sat at my computer for a good chunk of the day yesterday (yes, I know I'm supposed to be on bedrest, not sitting rest!). Perhaps that is why it is now 4:30 in the morning and I'm awake.
This is what happened...
I had a really rough day yesterday in terms of energy because I haven't been sleeping (terbutaline AND pregnancy induced insomnia in someone who already has a touch of it!). So, I went to bed early (10 p.m. instead of midnight), and had some good, deep sleep. I had just one teensy problem...I had to go to the bathroom every single hour I slept!
I usually get away with one or two bathroom visits a night, so this tipped me off a little. On my 4 a.m. march to the potty, I went and then took a look in the mirror. My once proud pregnant belly looks like it's melted a little! Plus, I can breath again, and I'm starving!
While I don't think this means the baby has engaged yet (I can still feel the head a little bit above my pubic bone), I do believe it's a sign that this kid is going to be here soon. So, tomorrow I'm having AJ pick up the last few things I need for my hospital bag, and we'll get that and the baby bag packed and in the car.
Unfortunately, I think we'll need someone to run up to Duluth to pick up our car seat at Target. We thought we would have a little more time, but things are starting to look as though we have two weeks at the most. Other than some diapers (Krista has a small pack of disposables for me), a crib sheet, and some bottles, I think we're pretty set.
Before I sign off, and try to get some more sleep (yeah, right!), I just want to thank everyone for their love and support. This baby is entering a community of wonderful people, and I'm so glad you are all our friends.
To my parents and AJ's, thank you so much for your help preparing for this child. Your support during the craziness of the past two months (jobs, pre-term labor, etc.), has really shown us what good parenting looks like. I'll never be able to say thank you enough!
