Mother's Day treasure hunting

Even though we are all a little under the weather, we decided to do a little geocaching today. We got a late start (after noon!), so we only went for one cache at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center.

Oh, no! Where's the cache?!?

We started down the path, and the cache came up as close by. As we went farther down the path, the cache got farther away. It had to have been right at the beginning, but we pressed on.

Wonderful woods

The main path makes a loop back to the center. As we approached where we started, the cache got closer again. AJ spied the cache (an old ammo container), so we got to work fishing it down from its perch.

A googly-eyed memento from the cache.

Since this cache is a travel bug hotel, we had hoped to find either a bug or a coin to bring to the beach with us. No luck, but Alden snagged these groovy glasses!

Bye-bye bug!

AJ gifted me with several bugs for Christmas, so we placed our first one today! I can't wait to see where it goes.

A boy and his cache.

All of us started to feel tired, so we hid the cache and headed up to the center. Alden had forgotten about the mine exhibit. By the time we left, he had detonated several charges of dynamite...hehe!
