around town Tuesday: late-night lights

After a brief get-together to celebrate my last night at The Daily Press, my coworkers and I were shown the bar door (the first time I've ever stayed at a bar until close!). I wasn't feeling quite up to driving yet (yep, I'm a light-weight), so I wanted to get some fresh air and go for a walk.

One of my coworkers decided to walk with me since I was going in the direction of his house (we briefly considered going out for coffee, but I really wanted to get home). We walked in silence for awhile, and then I remembered that I had brought my camera to take a picture of downtown at night, so I snapped the pic above. We talked a little bit about how much we'd miss working together, and then I bid him goodnight at the library.

As I walked back to my car, I thought about all the great people who work at the Press and how thankful I am to have met and worked with them. I thought about how quiet the streets become in our sleepy little town at 2 a.m. and I wondered how I was ever going to get through tomorrow with an on-the-go toddler.

For all the grumbling I did about work, it's still hard to say goodbye.
